Honored to share the stage with Alexis Borbon celebrating Heritage and Culture. Thank you Ann Wallace for holding space!
Poets, performers, writers, and musicians!
The Writing Center is excited to announce our first Open Mic of the semester! Catch us outside on Tuesday, September 16th, at 4PM behind Hepburn Hall.
We’re also pleased to announce that this year’s Open Mics will have features! Each Open Mic will have one student feature and one community feature. For Hispanic Heritage Month, we are proud to have RescuePoetix and Alexis Borbon on our stage.
RescuePoetix, the first Puerto Rican woman Poet Laureate Emeritus of Jersey City, NJ and State of New Jersey Beat Poet Laureate (2022-2024), is a bilingual globally published performing poet, advocate, spoken word artist, recording artist and teaching artist. She established her professional artist brand, RescuePoetix™ and is an arts advocate deeply involved in the arts community since 2006 and currently serves on the boards of several arts organizations throughout the USA.
Alexis Borbon is a Latin American writer from New Jersey, studying at New Jersey City University to be an English teacher to share their love of literature with the writers of the future. He believes that creativity can come from any aspect of one’s own life. Alexis is a writer of fiction and fantasy, an avid enjoyer of all things magical— be it on the tabletop, the leaves, or the stars.
We can’t wait to see you there!
