Save the Date! The Red Wheelbarrow Poetry Readings Featuring Mike Mandzik
Wednesday, August 6, 2025, 7 PM
Dear poet,
Join us on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 7 p.m. at The Felician University Little Theater, 230 Montross Avenue, Rutherford, NJ 07070, for a fantastic poetry reading, featuring the poet Mike Mandzik, plus the best open mic in New York and New Jersey.
MICHAEL MARK MANDZIK, JR. is a New Jersey poet, born and bred in the wilds of Essex County. His poetry has been published in The Rutherford Red Wheelbarrow, The Journal of New Jersey Poets, The Stillwater Review, Paulinskill Poetry Project’s Voices From Here 2, Humans of the World blog, Vox Poetica, Painted Poetry, Corduroy, and the Montclair State Quarterly (both in print and on vinyl). Over the years, Mike has workshopped with Diane Wakoski, Edwin Romond, Maureen Seaton, BJ Ward, Jim Klein, and the Red Wheelbarrow Poets. Mike received an Honorable Mention in the 2016 New Jersey Poets Prize and was a 2022 Pushcart Prize Nominee. He holds a Master of Science with Distinction in Energy Management from the New York Institute of Technology.
To get to The Little Theater from New York City, follow the instructions below. You can use this link to plan the trip from NYC to Rutherford (select "Towns" tab): https://www.njtransit.com/bus-to
Directions to take the 190 bus from NYC
Go to the Port Authority Bus Terminal on 40 street & 8th Avenue. If you take the subway, the A and C are the closest. Buy a ticket in advance for the 190 express bus to Rutherford, Zone 3, at the window or from the machines (you can't buy from the driver). One adult ticket costs $5.15.
Go to Gate 232 (upstairs); there might be a line as it will be rush hour by the time you get there. Get on the Rutherford Express line (second door). The reading starts at 7 p.m., but we recommend getting on the bus around 6 p.m. to account for traffic in the Lincoln Tunnel.
Tell the driver you need to get off at Montross Avenue, and they will stop there. It's the 3rd bus stop after the Rutherford Train Station. If you get to Carmita Avenue, that's too far.
The Little Theater is just a short walk from the bus stop uphill on Montross Avenue. Cross Union Avenue and walk uphill on Montross about 5 minutes. The building is in the back of a large parking lot across from Felician University.
See you all in person on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at 7 PM.
