Save the date! Join us for The Red Wheelbarrow 19 Launch on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, 7 PM
Dear poet,
You’re invited to The Red Wheelbarrow 19 launch!! Join us on October 7, 2026 at 7 PM at The Felician University Little Theater at 230 Montross Avenue in Rutherford, NJ, for a fantastic poetry reading, featuring the writers published in RWB 19.
If you have work in this issue, congratulations! We would love you to attend the October 7 launch to read your work from the book. Please put the date on your calendar if you’re available.
At the launch, we’ll have books for sale for the promotional price of $15, two whole dollars less than our listed price online! Come and get your copy! Our contributors are our only "subscribers," so there are no free contributor copies—but reading at the launch qualifies you to submit to RWB 20!
Our featured poet this year is Moira OBrien, interviewed by Donald Zirilli. Our poetry section is curated by Arthur Russell and includes a remarkable and authentic collection of new poems that reflects the dynamic poetry scene that The Red Wheelbarrow Poets created in Rutherford. Our prose section this year is curated by Frank Rubino and includes reviews of poetry books recently published by poets in our community. All this exciting work is wrapped up in a beautiful abstract cover, featuring a gorgeous collage by Barbara O’Dair. You can see more of her collages gracing in black and white the section openers inside the book.
We hope you’ll find this year’s issue inspiring, a slice of the best contemporary writing in New Jersey and New York. We also hope that The Red Wheelbarrow 19 will motivate each one of you to continue to write, create, and attend our weekly workshops on Zoom and our monthly events at The Felician University Little Theater. Our community and annual journal are proving this year once again that the William Carlos Williams legacy is still going strong in Rutherford, where the epic is indeed the local fully realized. The good doctor would be so proud.
Hope to see you all on October 7 at the launch in Rutherford! Please forward this email to your family and friends—this will be a huge celebration.
Best regards,
The Red Wheelbarrow Gang of Six:
Moira OBrien
Frank Rubino
Arthur Russell
Claudia Serea
Don Zirilli
Anton Yakovlev
To get to The Little Theater from New York City, follow the instructions below. You can use this link to plan the trip from NYC to Rutherford (select "Towns" tab): https://www.njtransit.com/bus-to
Directions to take the 190 bus from NYC
Go to the Port Authority Bus Terminal on 40 street & 8th Avenue. If you take the subway, the A and C are the closest. Buy a ticket in advance for the 190 express bus to Rutherford, Zone 3, at the window or from the machines (you can't buy from the driver). One adult ticket costs $5.30.
Go to Gate 232 (upstairs); there might be a line as it will be rush hour by the time you get there. Get on the Rutherford Express line (second door). The reading starts at 7 p.m., but we recommend getting on the bus around 6 p.m. to account for traffic in the Lincoln Tunnel.
Tell the driver you need to get off at Montross Avenue, and they will stop there. It's the 3rd bus stop after the Rutherford Train Station. If you get to Carmita Avenue, that's too far.
The Little Theater is just a short walk from the bus stop uphill on Montross Avenue. Cross Union Avenue and walk uphill on Montross about 5 minutes. The building is in the back of a large parking lot across from Felician University.
See you all in person on Wednesday, October 7, at 7 PM!
