Event Description:
Announcing our next Poets & Storytellers Open on August 14th! Join us for an evening of poetry and conversation at Wull & Oak in Downtown Hopewell.
P&SO welcomes everyone to bring their original poetry or prose, polished or in progress, to this wonderful space. P&SO is a space for writers performing or working out original pieces. The open mic signup list caps off at 12 readers and does fill up quickly, so be sure to arrive on time to secure a spot! Each performer will have up to 5 minutes to share their work. For those who would only like to watch the performances, you’re more than welcome to also join our audience. The event is free and open for all to enjoy, but we do welcome donations to help keep the event funded.
For August, we’re very excited to welcome Isabel Cruz! Isabel (@eesahvel) is a Puerto Rican poet and Emeritus Youth Poetry Ambassador for the Paterson Poetry Festival, and recipient of awards such as the 2024 Five College Prose & Poetry Prize and the 2024 Elizabeth Babcock Prize for Best Poem. Her work is published or forthcoming with The Poetry Society of New York, I Feel Nothing Like Good Anthology, Brooklyn Poets Poet of the Week, ART SICK, By The WAYE, and Acentos Review, among others.
A Q&A session will follow Isabel’s set.

*Please be mindful that W&O closes at 6PM on Friday evenings, and we use the next 50 minutes to rearrange and set up the space before opening back up for the event.
