@millicent_ansah24 A jubilant June is ahead, and I’m so excited to invite you all to Mocha Mic with Millie: Juneteenth Renaissance 2026: A Celebration of Art and Poetry Under the Stars
Join us as the tribe of scribes and good vibes gathers once again at The Common Earth Company for an evening rooted in Black artistry, truth-telling, healing, joy, and community. Together, we will honor Juneteenth, the day enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas were finally informed of their freedom in 1865, over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation.
This year’s incredible features include:
Kenneth Something (@saysomethingpoet) – A Baltimore-based poet, playwright, and artivist creating at the intersection of art and social justice for over 15 years. A multi-national slam champion, he was ranked 3rd best slam poet in the world.
Valisha Desir, Esq. (@sing_vali) - An Asbury Park native whose roots in gospel music shaped her love for performance and storytelling. She continues sharing her gift through soulful music and powerful presence.
AVG (@avgpoetry) - A poet, author, and Philly-based creative whose work explores identity, faith, romance, and social issues. Through poetry, he hopes people see reflections of themselves and healing in his words.
Angiie (@angiie3200) -A Brooklyn-based multidisciplinary artist using spoken word, music, painting, and writing to inspire healing and empowerment.
Expressions by MowZus will also be sharing reflective visual artwork throughout the evening.
